Finding Balance This Holiday Season: Navigating Emotions and Food Without Overeating
From my heart, I'm wishing you a beautiful Holiday Season, whatever you are celebrating.
Food is a big part of holiday celebrations, and it’s not something you can simply quit like alcohol or drugs. It’s about finding balance.
Whether you’re with family or spending the season on your own, ask yourself:
How can you listen to your body and know when you've reached your limits?
How can you make this holiday special without food being the focus?
Maybe it’s playing board games, watching your favorite holiday movie, or taking a snowy walk to see the lights.
Food is meant to be enjoyed, but can you shift more joy to other parts of the season? Being around loved ones can bring up emotions or even pain.
If you notice frustration, hurt, or anger bubbling up, pause and lean inward:
👉 What am I feeling?
👉 What story am I telling myself, and is it true?
👉 Is this my inner child speaking or my adult self?
👉 How can I show up as the healing, empowered adult I am now?
You can’t control others, but you can shift how you show up.
Remember who you are, and don’t let others’ behaviour change how you feel about yourself. I know this isn't easy.
If you’re feeling lonely this season, know that it won’t always be this way, and you’re not alone.
Find something nurturing to comfort yourself and reach out if you need support—I’m here for you. 💌
With love and support,
Jamie ❤️
